Peanut wood is named for the lighter, cream colored spots that often resemble peanuts in the shell. The pattern has been created by tiny clams burrowing into the wood when it sank to the bottom of the ocean. The burrows filled in with sediment and then fossilized, creating a contrast of cream and golden brown fossilized wood. This fossil wood is very rare and is no longer collectible. This fine pendant measures roughly one inch by one inch.
