This fossil shark tooth is from an extinct "snaggle-toothed" shark. It is easily recognizable due to the heavy serrations along both edges of the blade. The tooth is in excellent condition, with no serious nicks in the blade or a rounded tip. The root is electroformed with 18kt gold and the gold has a totally invisible, baked-on protective coating applied for greater durability and abrasion resistance.
